Publication of the Year

Hi WP friends, I took a little break to re-energize the creative juices as Operation Declutter proceeds… and I received an email from Spillwords today that my short story “Dusty” is in the running for the non-poetic publication of the year. I was speechless.

If you had a chance to read it and liked it, would you please take a minute to or two to vote for it? It’s in the third box down, “Vote for publication of the year (non-poetic)” … “Dusty” by Darryl B

Voting ends Friday, January 30 at 7:00 pm EST.

Here’s a link to vote: https://spillwords.com/vote/

And the story is here.

Thanks much for any consideration you could give! 😎

    1. Thanks, Mike! It’s a painful process, but I’ve come to realize that just bc something was loved by someone else, doesn’t mean *I* need to love it. At least most things. Will also be interested to see how much of my own personal junk will be “snapped up” by my three kids 😂😎

  2. Huge congrats, Darryl. I loved the story. I really wanted to cast a vote your way, and I didn’t even so much mind setting up an account, but wow… they made that whole thing so much more complicated than it had to be. Fingers crossed for you 🙂

Fairy dust 😂 I’ll take it! 😉 Your posts radiate positivity and light and it’s not difficult to discern the personality behind the pen. 4. Darryl is undeniably a gifted writer. He has an exceptional way with words that captivates the reader from the very first sentence. What I particularly appreciate about this story is how it brings me back to my time in Vietnam. The presence of Charlie feels almost omnipresent, always lurking, always growing stronger, always in the shadows, ready to strike. The sense of tension and uncertainty in the narrative truly mirrors the experiences I had during my time. YEM
